I just want to second the other post about not buying Hot Topic body jewelry…I bought some “6g” pinchers and couldn’t get them in my ear; they were too big. I’d been stretched to 6g for months, so there shouldn’t have been a problem, unless of course they mislabeled their…
Warning other people isn’t whining. When I bought 6g pinchers from them, I believed that they would actually be 6g - and I’m sure many other people that buy their body jewelry would assume that the size on the package is accurate like I did. It doesn’t matter if Morbid Metals is the one who mislabeled it; I bought it from Hot Topic, and they are responsible for properly representing the items that they sell. I won’t be taking you up on your advice to buy more mall jewelry from what you obviously perceive as your rival store (even though I’m pretty sure both stores sell the same quality jewelry). I’d rather buy quality stuff that’s properly labeled.
Someone else said: “Employee here. Company policy. Once they’re opened, we cannot take them back. Its right on the receipt that you cannot return them. The majority of our jewelry is fine. Use common sense while picking a style. Some of it is crap.”
I get that they wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) resell used body jewelry, but the no returns thing is under the guise that they aren’t misrepresenting their products. I don’t care what they do with it, they can throw it out, but they need to take it back. The package said 6g - therefore I was led to believe I was being sold 6g pinchers. It’s pretty sneaky and dishonest for a company to sell mislabeled products, then hide behind a “no returns” policy on it - like that somehow negates selling me mislabeled stuff. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to misrepresent products (by having the wrong size label on it) and refuse to take them back, but I doubt anybody’s going to sue them over one pair of pinchers, and I’m sure Hot Topic banks on that. You actually can return the jewelry. I work at Hot Topic and as long as you tell us you opened it up and used it we will just damage it out.
Well maybe I just went to a jerk filled Hot Topic, but the manager flat out told me they don’t take returns on opened jewelry, no exceptions. The Hot Topic I went to refused to take it back because it was opened, even though I explained everything. It could be that other stores would take it back, but my experience was that they wouldn’t, and when I e-mailed customer service about it they told me that it was up to the store’s discretion.
jewelry I’ve ever seen. Sally’s really takes the cake though.
My store does. I’ve noticed recently that we’re getting less acrylic plugs and tapers and more metal and silicone. We’re...
